Guest speakers will include PSNI Head of Public Protection, Anthony McNally, NI Fire and Rescue Service Group Commander, David Harbinson, Larne Football Club and White Ribbon Co-ordinator, Tahnee McCorry.

The White Ribbon campaign is a global movement to end male violence against women. It was formed in 1991 by a group of male students in Canada in response to the brutal massacre of 14 female students. Its goal is to send out the message that male violence against women, in all its forms, is unacceptable

Women’s Aid ABCLN encourages groups and individuals across Northern Ireland to take action by signing the White Ribbon Charter, wearing the White Ribbon pin and making the personal pledge to never commit, condone or remain silent about violence against women.

White Ribbon Co-ordinator, Tahnee McCorry said: “With one in four women affected by domestic abuse in their lifetime, staying silent is not an option. Join us on-line for the launch of ‘White Ribbon 30 Years’ to learn more about how we are building a community response to domestic abuse.

“Through the White Ribbon campaign we want to empower business leaders, employers and workforces, community hubs, schools and churches to take a stand against domestic abuse.

“We are encouraging conversations around domestic abuse in rooms where the conversation hasn’t been had before for example with sports clubs and other organisations. These places are often the heart of the community and we can harness this support to inspire change.

“We want everyone to stand with us and help create a society where all women and children can live in safety, free from violence and abuse.”
