The local community has banded together, under the stewardship of the Whiteabbey Residents’ Association, to paint a mural on a wall at the lane in the Abbeyville Place area.

Commenting on the initiative, which commenced on October 16, Chair of the residents’ association, Emmanuel Mullen, said: “We hope to get the kids and community involved in the rest of this project. We plan to paint murals along the rest of the wall.

“Not long ago we conducted a clean up of the lane, which runs from Whiteabbey Train Station to Abbeyville Place. We intend to look after the laneway and carry out litter picks.

“We will be applying for a dog fouling bin and a litter bin for the area. We are also calling for a dog fouling bin for Abbeyville Street.

People have offered donations of paint for the rest of the project and we can’t thank them enough. Ideas for more murals are welcome. Please contact our Facebook page if you have any ideas.”
