Councillor Williams said: “It has been a busy time for foodbanks right across the borough, none more so than that in Carrickfergus. They are so grateful for the many donations they have received. This generosity has enabled the provision of food parcels for those in food crisis during the Covid-19 pandemic.

“It is remarkable that since the start of lock down on March 23, Carrickfergus Foodbank has been able to distribute 5.5 tons of food; an amazing endeavour for those who were in need of that type of support."

Alex Moore, from the Carrickfergus Foodbank team added: “We wanted to take this opportunity to remind partners of the service we provide and that we are here to help and support you and your clients over this very difficult period. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any queries or need help with food parcels."
