Women's health and wellbeing boosted at series of events in Swatragh

Women in Swatragh are being encouraged to look after their health and wellbeing this autumn and winter with a series of free events and exercise classes.

Granaghan and District Women’s Group are offering the classes with help from the Housing Executive’s Community Involvement funding.

Deirdre Bradley, Chairperson at Granaghan and District Women’s Group, said: “Thanks to funding of £2,926.50 from the Housing Executive we have been able to facilitate a range of free classes to give our members a much-needed boost this autumn and winter.

“All our events and classes have been developed in partnership with our members and reflect their needs and interests.

“Meanwhile, our Stress Free Saturday prioritises mental wellbeing for our members with a morning of meditation and teaching strategies for relieving stress.

“Recently, we also held an autumn floral arranging demonstration for 40 people which was again a great opportunity to bring women together to socialise.”

PJ Ward, the Housing Executive’s Patch Manager for Swatragh, added: “We were more than happy to support this wonderful project which focuses on improving the community’s health and wellbeing.

“Granaghan and District Women’s Group, which is now in its 30 th year, has really listened to the community and has put together a programme of events with local people in mind.

“We’ve already seen the great response to the group’s flower demo, and there’s much more to come to bring the community together over the coming months.”
