YFC plans celebration for its 70th anniversary

A SPECIAL event is being planned to mark the 70th anniversary of Straid Young Farmers’ Club.

Over the past seven decades, hundreds of young people have met together in Straid Orange Hall on Tuesday nights. The club is still going strong, with almost 100 members, and to recognise the club’s success a dinner dance and prizegiving will be held on March 31 in the Clarion Hotel, Carrickfergus.

The current committee are working hard to finalise all the necessary arrangements and are hoping the evening will be an opportunity for old and new members to get together.

Former YFCU president and North Antrim MLA Robin Swann will be the guest speaker on the evening. Those attending will also be given the opportunity to hear what has been happening over the past year as the club will be holding its annual prize distribution.

In addition, club officials are currently trying to source as many old photographs and memorabilia which will be displayed on the night to help jog a few memories and add to the fun of the occasion.

If you would like to attend please contact either Elaine on 07856 587546 or Carolyn on 07742 259459 to purchase tickets at £25 per person. If you can’t make it on the night but have old photos of Straid YFC please contact Elaine or Carolyn .
