'Personal best for students at Cross and Passion'

FOR students in Cross and Passion, Ballycastle the arrival of A Level results has once again been a great cause for celebration for pupils, parents and the staff.

The Principal, Mrs Barbara Ward has stated that pupils and their parents have much to be proud of with a record 55% of the A Level Pupils achieving 3 A* to C. Overall, 79% of the grades awarded this year were A* to C.

The top achievers were; Justin McHenry and Kerri Smith who both achieved 2A* Grades and a Grade A, Sarah McErlain who achieved 3 A Grades, Grace Cassley who achieved 1A*, 1 A, 1B and 1D, Francine McFarline 1A*, 1A and 1 B,

Ronan McCloskey, 2A and 1B and Natasha McGinn 2A and 1B.

Mrs Ward said that once again, the students of Cross and Passion College have met the challenge of A Level head on.

She said: “We are passionate about making a difference to the lives of the young people in our school and our goal is to ensure that their A Level experience in our school equips them for the next stage whether it be University, Further Education or employment. These great results, combined with the other experiences they gain through the pastoral programme, should mean that they move on with real confidence and self belief, ready to meet the challenges ahead.”

Mrs Ward paid tribute to the teaching and support staff of the college for their outstanding commitment and professionalism. The willingness of our staff to embrace change and rise to the challenge of innovation has played a huge part in the success of the pupils. She added: “More and more young people are succeeding and making the most of their talents and gifts. Our focus on empowering young people to become more successful learners is definitely working for the pupils.”

Almost all pupils will be continuing their studies at Queens University Belfast and University of Ulster whilst a small number have chosen to go Universities in England and Scotland. The principal wished her pupils every success in their future career paths, expressing great confidence in their ability to move forward and make a great success of university education.
