Petrol bomb

DETECTIVES are appealing for information after a petrol bomb was thrown at the front door of a property in the Lisaghmore area of the Waterside around 2.30am on July 5.

SDLP councillor Jim McKeever called on the community to cooperate with the police.

He said: “This is the latest in a string of pipe and petrol bomb attacks in Derry which are tarnishing our area.

“Whatever the motivation of these mindless thugs, there is no justification for these types of dangerous attacks. It is only a matter of time before someone is seriously injured or killed by their actions.

“I am appealing to people throughout the city and beyond to work with the police and pass onto them any information they may have about those who are responsible so that they can be taken off our streets and put behind bars.”

Anyone who saw suspicious activity in the area is asked to contact Strand Road CID on 0845 600 8000.

Alternatively information can be passed on anonymously through the ‘Crimestoppers’ charity on freephone 0800 555 111.
