Petrol bomb device thrown at car in Dungannon as children slept nearby

A petrol bomb device has been thrown at a car in Dungannon in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

Police have issued an appeal for information about the incident involving a red Hyundai l10, at Woodvale Park, which occurred at around 2.10am.

A spokesperson for the PSNI, Constable Carey said, “It is thought those involved may have thrown a suspected petrol bomb-type device at the vehicle which caused minor damage to the passenger door and smashed on the ground causing it to ignite.

“This was a serious incident, not least because this had the potential to cause injury and there were small children in a nearby house.

“Police are keen to hear from anyone who can help with their enquiries. The number to call is 101, quoting ref17820116. Alternatively information about crime can be passed via the independent Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.”
