Phoenix ADHD celebration

Phoenix ADHD Project held a Celebration Event which was attended by past and present young people and their families.

Kaye Cormack, the Project Manager, said Phoenix started as a one year pilot project in August 2008 with two part-time members of staff,but now had a team of six.

The success of the Project is a result of the hard work, dedication and commitment of her team, the Management Board and volunteers.

Each year the team select young people who have shown marked achievements during the year in memory of Coleraine woman Angie Young, a founder Director.

This year the following awards werepresented: Senior Achievement Award: Dominique Rogers, runner-up – Niamh Higgins; Junior Achievement Award Reece McAuley; runner-up – Cian McCullagh; Youth Mentee Award – Caoimhe McDaid

Mayor Michelle Knight-McQuillan, spoke about the importance of projects such as Phoenix ADHD Project and congratulated the young people on their achievements and the team for their hard work and dedication.

Sheila Palmer, Community Life Champion at Asda Coleraine presented awards to the Elements Group. Sheila attended together with Roy Warke, the store manager, to present the Project with a grant for £1,800 from Asda Community Foundation.

Davy Boyle, ‘The Caring Caretaker’, presented awards to the Phoenix Youths. Phoenix ADHD Project was selected as one of his charities for 2015 and was delighted to receive £3,000 aid.

Finally Amanda Doherty from the BIG Lottery, the main funder for the Project under the Reaching / Empowering Young People’s Programme, presented awards to Phoenix Youths and the Leavers.

She spoke about the importance of seeing the success of projects such as Phoenix for herself. She also congratulated the young people and commended the team for their hard work and commitment.
