Phoenix office opening in Moira

This office will provide a wide range of activates including counselling, complementary therapies, signposting, welfare advice, cultural trips as well as a drop in facility at the office itself.

To address the needs of former security service members who were affected by the Northern Ireland ‘Troubles’ the European Union’s PEACE III Programme has approved a second stage of funding until June 2014 to the Northern Ireland Phoenix Project

The Project promotes, advocates and addresses the needs of former security service personnel and their families who have been affected as a result of their service during the ‘Troubles’.

The main theme the Project is Peace and Reconciliation and the activities are planned around this.

During the first two years of the Project cultural awareness and shared heritage exchange trips have taken place to venues such as Kilmainham Gaol and the Garden of Remembrance at Islandbridge in Dublin, RUC GC Garden of Remembrance in Belfast, the Somme Centre in Conlig and the WW1 Battlefields in France and Belgium to name a few. The Project also provides an opportunity to bring like minded people together to help overcome social isolation, felt by many former security service personnel.
