“The Lagan Valley Alliance Advice Centre has sought clarification on a number of issues. Lisburn has two Phones 4U stores and I hope that employees and customers alike are kept informed of any developments by the administrator. “Anyone who has any additional concerns can avail of the Consumer Council’s Consumerline on 0300 123 6262.”

Lisburn South Alliance councillor Amanda Grehan said, “It is our understanding that mobile phone networks will continue to provide their services through contracts set up through Phones 4U.

“Warranties and insurance obtained through the company should also be protected by manufacturers and separate insurance companies. I would advise Phones 4U customers to collate any paperwork they have until more information is known about how the administration plans to move forward.” The phone retailer went into administration putting 5,596 jobs at more than 700 outlets at risk throughout the UK.

Accountancy firm PwC has been appointed to see if any of the 560 stores and 160 concessions can be re-opened or sold.
