Photographer Kris does it again!

HE'S done it again - photographer Kris Dickson from Ballymoney has won yet another prestigious award for his camera skills.

The snapper from Life Photography in Coleraine was awarded with the title of Northern Ireland Wedding Photographer of the Year at a ceremony in Belfast last week.

Kris also won the awards for Modern Wedding Photograph of the Year and Classical Wedding Photograph of the Year.

His fantastic work was also rewarded with a second place on the digital composite category, a third in the fashion category and two merit awards for his portraiture work.

The awards were presented by the British Institute of Professional Photography (NI) at the Wellington Park Hotel.

“The awards were adjudicated by Paul Callaghan from Kingscourt and Mike Brookes Roper from Aberdeen but he was unable to attend because of the ash cloud disrupting flights, so he gave his adjudication via Skype - which was the first time I have seen that happen at an awards ceremony,” laughed Kris.

“The classical picture featured a bride and groom from Ballymoney and the photograph was taken at the Galgorm while the modern photograph was of a couple from Greysteel and was taken at the Radisson.

“The special thing about these portraits is that it’s not down to the location, it’s down to the people and what they are doing. They’re both quite moody photographs, not cheesy smiley photographs.

“They are happy confident pictures.”

Indeed, the classical photograph was the same one which scooped Kris the title of UK Wedding Photographer of the Year in October.

Kris has been a professional photographer for 11 years and just wants to continue doing what he is doing.

“Photography for your wedding is really important. It’s the one thing that will last so you have to do it properly,” he said.
