Pick up your copy of the town treasure trail and hunt out a real bargain

OVER 60 retailers have signed up for the Lurgan Retail Treasure Trail - from butchers to beauty salons to bikes to pizzas to gift wear – so now is your chance to pick up a bargain.

The Lurgan Treasure Trail a specially designed treasure trail linking local history with retail getting more people to shop locally. With a trail to solve every month there’s lots of prizes and rewards up for grabs! People can explore the shops and local history, solve clues and discover some surprises along the way.

Not only is there a loyalty card included in the trail to redeem discounts and freebies from participating retailers, but people can also enter into a monthly prize draw online to win a £20-£30 voucher. Come March 2012 there is also an opportunity to win £500 worth of vouchers from local retailers.

“Lurgan is a great town and Lurgan Treasure Trail is a great way to promote the town and for people to get something back at the same time, ” commented Chair of Craigavon Borough Council’s Development Committee Councillor Carla Lockhart, “Council is actively working with the local retailers in raising the profile of Lurgan as a great place to visit, shop and enjoy”.

The concept of a treasure trail has been used before in other places, but the retail aspect is unique to Lurgan. Lurgan Treasure Trail has been designed by the company Treasure Trails, a Craigavon Business Innovation Award Winner 2010.

“The Lurgan Treasure Trail is proving to be very popular with over 60 retailers signed up and more wanting to. It’s a great chance for local people and others from further afield to explore Lurgan whilst shopping and get rewarded!”, said Simon Dowey, Vice-Chairman Chamber of Commerce, “Look out for trail stickers in shop windows!”

The Lurgan Treasure Trail is funded by the Department for Social Development as part of the Lurgan Re:Store Project – improving the visitor and shopper awareness of what Lurgan has to offer.
