PICTURE GALLERY: New farmers' mart opens in Armoy

A FORMER equestrian centre in Armoy has been turned into a farmer's mart.

Cushendall-based Daniel McAlister & Son have acquired the site at 15 Coolkeeran Road, Armoy, which extends to approximately 10,000 sq.ft. of covered space with seven acres of parking and paddocks.

The premises have been adapted to run livestock sales and machinery sales, which have now commenced.

Located in a prime farming area in the centre of North Antrim, only ten miles from Cushendall, six miles from Ballycastle and eight miles from Ballymoney McAlister's say they intend to relocate all field sales to this newly adapted centre and run regular cattle, sheep and machinery sales.

Daniel McAlister & Son have been holding livestock sales in the Glens of Antrim for over 100 years and conducted annual sales at various venues which included:- Carincastle, Ballyvoy, Torr, Armoy, Glenbush and Cushendall.

The firm's website said: "We intend to relocate all field sales to our modernised premises in Armoy."
