Picture special: Somme Centenary Concert and parade
Carrickfergus Castle provided a spectacular backdrop for the Somme Centenary Concert held on Friday night.
4,000 people were in attendance to watch Aled Jones give a musical tribute as part of a three-hour spectacular free concert marking the service and sacrifice of Irish soldiers during the Battle of the Somme.
The concert followed a military and veterans parade through the town.
The parade was led by the Band of the Irish Guards and also feature the band, bugles, pipes and drums of the Royal Irish Regiment as well as a wreath-laying ceremony at the War Memorial.
