Pilot programme for Apprentice Boys

The Carrickfergus branch of the Apprentice Boys of Derry are piloting an outreach programme in the borough.

The project is linked with the association’s exhibition, which is running in the Civic Centre until the end of the month.

“The organisers are keen to attract community and youth groups along, where workshops will explain and investigate the role Carrickfergus and its inhabitants played leading up to, during and after the Siege,” said Jonathan Cooke, president of the local branch.

“These workshops can be tailored for the groups’ individual needs. It is hoped visiting groups can follow the experience up with a visit and tour of the city walls, St Columb’s Cathedral or attend the Maiden City festival or Tattoo.

“Guided tours of the Carrickfergus Museum can also be provided as part of an overall package.”
