Pipe bandcompetitioncoming to town

Preparations are underway for the eagerly anticipated Craigavon & District Pipe Band and Drum Major Championship’s taking place in Lurgan Park on Saturday 21st June.

Organised by the Royal Scottish Pipe Band Association (Co.Down Section) in partnership with Craigavon Borough Council, the event will see over 1,000 members of Pipe Bands and Drum Majors from Ireland, North and South, compete in competition, playing a wonderful spectrum of music and showcasing their melodic talents to visitors from near and far. In addition, the famous Field Marshall Montgomery will also be performing on the day.

Kicking off at 11am, visitors will get the chance to enjoy a wide range of music from the pipe bands, cultural music from Blackthorn, Upducky Band and VioLeen, tantalise their tastebuds at the cuisine court and keep their little ones entertained at the kid’s fairground zone!

The event extends into the town centre with exclusive performances from some of the competitors and footage from the event featuring on a big LED screen on the plaza.

Admission is £5 and 18s and under are FREE.
