Pipebomb explosions leave woman shaken and man injured

Detectives in Coleraine are appealing for information after a report of two pipe bomb explosions at residential premises in the Ballymoney area in the early hours of Saturday morning.

At around 4.15am, it was reported that a pipebomb exploded at a house in the Hanna Court area.

A disabled female resident believed to be in her 50’s, who was inside the property at the time of the incident is not believed to have been harmed, but left badly shaken.

A window at the front of the property is believed to have been damaged.

Shortly before 4.25am, it was reported that a car and a house were damaged following a pipebomb exploding in the Henry Street area. A male resident believed to be in his 40s is not believed to have been injured during the incident, who was inside the property.

A number of homes were evacuated in the area of both incidents and ATO were tasked to the scene.

At this stage, police are investigating a link between both incidents. Enquiries are continuing.

Police would appeal to anyone who witnessed the incident or anyone with any information to contact CID at Coleraine Police Station on the new non-emergency number 101.
