Pipelaying works underway

NI Water is currently undertaking pipelaying works in the Lurgan Road area as part of their £14m Castor Bay to Belfast Water Trunk Main Scheme, an extensive project that will safeguard water quality and improve the security of supply for our customers in the area.

We would like to advise the public that pipelaying works are scheduled to get underway on the Lurgan Road (between Aghalee & Aghagallon), commencing Monday 10th November 2014.

To ensure pipelaying is carried out in the safest possible manner, our contractor Lagan Construction will need to implement a road closure on Lurgan Road, between its junction with Goudy Bridge Road and its junction with Brankinstown Road for approximately 5 weeks.

A diversion route will be signposted and schools in the area as well as the education board and emergency
services have been
notified.

Pipelaying work is also scheduled to take place shortly along the Cornakinnegar Road. Once a date has been finalised, signage and traffic management will be in place and we will continue to liaise with Transport NI regarding this section of work.

Work on the Colane Road (off the Lurgan Road) will be completed by the end of this week (Fri 7th Nov).

Martin Gillen NI Water Project Manager said: “NI Water and our contractor Lagan Construction would like to thank the public for their patience and cooperation while we complete this essential improvement work which will safeguard the security of the water supply for our customers.
