P.J. overwhelmed by avalanche of ‘best wishes’ from public
BALLYMENA’S first ever nationalist mayor has extended a sincere ‘thank-you’ to each and every person who took the time to write, email or text their congratulations to him on his historic election to the town’s top civic position.
Speaking at the July monthly meeting of Council in The Braid, last Monday night, Alderman PJ McAvoy said he had been overwhelmed and touched by the number of people who had sent him their best wishes.
He revealed he had received over 60 cards, 50 or 60 emails and countless text messages in the wake of his election as First Citizen.
“I just want to publicly thank the people and let them know that I appreciate very much all the lovely messages that have been conveyed to me,” he said.
