Plan lodged for floodlit sports facility at Ravarnet

PLANS are underway to upgrade the leisure facilities for local people at Ravarnet after a planning application was recently submitted for an all-weather multi-use floodlit sports and play area.

Spruce Meadows, which officially opened last May, offers a number of top outdoor leisure facilities, which will be boosted further should the plans receive the go-ahead from planners.

Gary Kerr, who owns the Spruce Meadows complex, said the area, which is located on the Ravarnet Road, had proved to be popular with local families, particularly during the holidays.

Gary commented: "We officially opened last May and we went very well over the summer, particularly with children and families.

"We have plans to add on to what we have already with the multi-use sports and play area. There has been some interest from customers who have told me about the scarcity of synthetic pitches for 5-a-side football."

Spruce Meadows currently offers local people the opportunity to enjoy Quad Biking, Fishing, Pitch & Putt, as well as an Open Farm and events for birthdays. The complex will now be able to host 5-a-side football matches, and Gary has hopes to accommodate Summer Schemes during the school holidays.

He stated: "Most of our facilities would be outdoors and the all-weather pitches will lead to fewer cancellations of events because of the weather.

"Certainly there is nothing of this sort in Ravarnet and there has been large support for it from those I have spoken to."

The application for Spruce Meadows features an all-weather multi-use sports and play area with four, six metre free standing floodlights and associated boundary fencing three metres in height.
