The Health Minister Michelle O’Neill has advised East Londonderry MLA George Robinson that the Trust is working on plan to address the shortfall.

“The Western HSC Trust has recently briefed my officials on a historic resourcing deficit in its adult learning disability services,” she said.

“To resolve the issue, the Western Trust has agreed to develop a long term plan, in partnership with local families and carers, to quantify the spending gap and address the current historic resourcing issues in its adult learning disability services.

“The Trust will be fully supported in this important work by the Health and Social Care Board.

“It is ultimately for the Western Trust to decide how it funds its individual programmes of care in line with the priority needs of the local community.

“Although the funding position for Health and Social Care is very challenging, I am committed to ensuring that the HSC as a whole prioritises its resources to meet the needs of the community,” said the new Minister.
