Plan to start new WI for urban Lisburn

DO you like to bake, sew, knit, garden or just drink tea and chat? Perhaps the new Lisburn Women’s Institute will be your spiritual home.

The WI is a wonderful organisation and those involved believe it needs to be brought to a new generation of women. The face of the WI needs to change because the lives of women have changed. Lisburn WI will give women an opportunity to express their creativity, take up new hobbies or just get two hours away from their hectic life.

Do you want to learn how to use a drill, re-upholster a chair, ice a Christmas cake or make jam that actually sets? There are a lot of hidden talents in the area and the Lisburn WI is determined to discover them as well as being proactive in updating the image of the WI.

The WI are holding an “expression of interest” meeting on Thursday September 15 at 7.30pm at the Bridge Community Centre. This meeting is for anyone who would like to see what is ahead for this new group, and to have input into what activities and speakers they can plan.
