Planners approve controversial Ballyduff project
Planning Service has recommended approval of a retrospective application by Newtownabbey Borough Council for its controversial “environmental scheme” in the Ballyduff estate.
Work on the £27,000 feature wall/bonfire site at Forthill Drive was completed in June.
There were no objections to the application.
Some residents and councillors have criticised the local authority for spending ratepayers’ money on a purpose-built bonfire site, while others have welcomed the project as a good addition to the estate.
