Planners ‘refuse’ farm shed

The applicant is Mr John McCann and the location is adjacent to 21a Ballinlea Road, Ballycastle.

Planners say the proposal is contrary to policy CTY12 of Panning Policy Statement 21 Sustainable Development in the Countryside, in that the applicant has not provided sufficient information to confirm that the building is necessary for the efficient use of active and establishes agricultural holding.

Planners further state:

n ‘The proposal is contrary to police CTY13 of Planning Policy Statement 21, Sustainable Development in the Countryside, in that the building is a prominent feature in the landscape and would fail to blend with the landform and therefore would not integrate into this area of the countryside

n ‘The proposal is contrary to Policy CTY14 of Planning Policy Statement 21, Sustainable Development in the Countryside in that the building would, if permitted, be unduly prominent in the landscape and would therefore result in a detrimental change to further erode the rural character of the countryside.

n ‘The proposed development is unacceptable in that it has not been demonstrated that satisfactory access arrangements can be provided.’
