A DECISION on planning permission for a proposed residential development in Dunmurry has been deferred until next month.

The Planning Service had indicated they would refuse planning permission for eleven residential units at the site at Credenhill Park and Upper Dunmurry Lane because, they said, it would result in unacceptable damage to the character of the area.

The Planners also said the development was not in keeping with the overall character and environmental quality of the existing residential neighbourhood and that it would, if permitted, result in unacceptable overlooking between the proposed units and the adjacent properties.

However, at a recent meeting of Lisburn City Council’s Planning Committee the Mayor, Councillor Brian Heading, asked the Senior Planning Officer to defer the decision for one month.

Mr Heading said the site was a source of anti-social behaviour and he hoped the developer would be able to come up with an acceptable plan to allow for the redevelopment of the site.
