Planningshorts from Moyle area

A number of planning applications, which had been refused by the Planners, were discussed at Monday night’s meeting of Moyle District Council.

An application by V McAlonan for a dwelling on a farm south of Hillside Road in Armoy was turned down as Planners said it was not considered an exceptional case.

Cllr Joan Baird asked for an office meeting with Planners to discuss the matter further.

Farm dwelling turned down

Plans for a new farm dwelling south of The Clachan Aird on Causeway Road in Bushmills have been turned down.

The applicant David McAfee proposed to build a new farm dwelling and garage.

There were ten letters of objection against the scheme and Planners refused it on the grounds that it would not “visually integrate into the surrounding landscape”.

They also said that it would result in a suburban style build-up of development and would “adversely affect the intrinsic environmental nature and character” of the area.

Ballycastle plan refused

An application for a one and a half storey farm dwelling south of the Moyarget Road in Ballycastle has been refused by Planners.

The application was made by James Holmes and was turned down as it would not “visually integrate” into the landscape.

Cllr Sharon McKillop asked for an office meeting to discuss thematter further.

Plan turned down

An application for a replacement dwelling ad integrated garage has been refused by Planners.

The application by Patrick Mitchell was for 61 Drumavoley Road in Ballycastle.

Planners said that the design of the replacement was “inappropriate to its rural setting” and that it would “adversely affect the locality by reason of inappropriate scale and design”.

Farmhouse refused

Plans for a house on a farm near Stroan Road in Armoy have been refused by Planners.

The application by Irwin and Jill McCook was for land north east of No5 Stroan Road but it was turned down by Planners as it would not “visually integrate into the surrounding landscape”.

They also said that an archaeological evaluation had not been provided and that insufficient information had been submitted regarding access.

Ceiling plans refused

An application by a Ballycastle man to cover damaged boards in an alley ceiling with white PVC has been turned down by Planners.

The application by Michael Brady was for 54 Castle Street but Planners refused the scheme saying it would detract from the character of the area.
