Entirely separate to the application, the Bond’s Street Community Association is currently in the process of replacing up to five of the murals in the area with art forms, which are to be decided by the local people.

The original memorial at the corner of Emerson Street depicted Cecil McKnight, a member of the Ulster Defence Association (UDA) and the Ulster Democratic Party (UDP) who was shot dead by the Irish Republican Army (IRA) in 1991.
