Plans to mark end of council

Discussions as to how to mark the official ‘winding up’ of Carrickfergus Borough Council are to be held in the coming months.

The local authority will cease to operate from April 2015, when it will be superseded by the new Mid and East Antrim supercouncil.

At Monday night’s monthly council meeting, it was suggested that a separate meeting should be held at which to gather suggestions on how to mark the occasion. “The Civic Sub-committee is too small to deal with this matter,” said Alderman Charlie Johnston.
