Playwright's debut at Waterside Theatre

A NEW play will premiere at the Waterside Theatre next week, from the pen of debutant playwright, Martin O'Brien.

'Two Little Boys' centres on the sibling rivalry of two brothers who travel to a Donegal hotel to carry out what can only be described as a 'dodgy' deal. But, the failure of the deal only brings to the surface 50 years of simmering resentment. Accompanying the brothers are their 'better halves', who do anything but diffuse the situation.

Martin O'Brien, who lived in Newbuildings for ten years says he has drawn a lot on his experience of growing up in the Waterside during the 1970's. He said that whilst he always had a hankering to write a lack of confidence kept him back.

Now working as a taxi driver, Martin told the Sentinel he began the process of sketching out 'Two Little Boys' between taxi fares.
