Poetry book raises £325 for Northern Ireland Hospice

LOCAL poetry enthusiast, May Simpson, has raised £325 for Northern Ireland Hospice (NIH).

This is the 20th Edition poetry book that May has composed and sold, all in her free time, in order to raise funds for NIH.

This year’s edition ‘Away Beyond the Blue’ consists of 40 poems, and has sold over 200 copies in the local community.

May explained: ‘I am very fond of writing and started composing the books 20 years ago. I have always supported NIH, as I have had friends who have used their services over the years. This is a great way for me to enjoy my hobby, and to help those cared for by NIH.”

Northern Ireland Hospice could not continue to provide care and support each year to over 3,200 life-limited and life-threatened adults, children, young people and their families without the help and dedication of local communities and individuals such as May Simpson.

Stefani Butler, Community Fundraiser explained: “It costs 8 million to provide this specialized care, every year, and we rely heavily on the support of the local community to help us achieve this. May Simpson has worked tirelessly over the past 20 years to continue supporting NIH and we are extremely grateful for all her hard work.”
