Points imposed in insurance case

At Craigavon Magistrates Court last Wednesday six penalty points were imposed on a 43-year-old Banbridgewoman as a result of a detection in Portadown.

The points were handed down in respect of an offence of driving without having insurance.

The defendant, Denise McBurney of Tullyear Terrace, Banbridge, was also fined £150 and ordered to pay a £15 offender’s levy.

The court heard McBurney had been stopped by police while driving at Bachelor’s Walk, Portadown, on June 27.

She was asked at the time to produce her driving documents.

A solicitor representing the defendant said that it was just a lapse on the part of her client.

She added that the defendant would say she did not receive a notice of renewal from her insurance company.
