Poked woman in both eyes with his fingers after he was stabbed

James Scullion (25), North Street, who appeared in court via videolink from Magaberry prison, admitted common assault on January 1 this year.

The court heard that at 1.15am at Craigavon Area Hospital police were dealing with incidents when the injured party claimed the defendant had poked her in both eyes with his fingers.

A solicitor representing Scullion said he had been stabbed and the victim was the girlfriend of the other person involved.

He explained that the defendant had gone to the hospital for treatment and when he saw the girlfriend of the person who did the stabbing come in he took it as an affront and poked her in the eyes. The solicitor said Scullion had been given a 12 month sentence from the Crown Court on April 9 with four months to be spent in custody and the rest on licence. District Judge, Mr Mervyn Bates, imposed two months in prison for the assault to run concurrently with Scullion’s present sentence.
