Police appeal on burglaries

Sometime between 7pm and 11pm on Monday, 14 December, entry was forced through the front door of a house in Ballyvally Heights.

A quantity of cash was stolen which included 100 and 50 dollar bills, 100 and 50 Euro notes and a number of sterling notes.

The back door of another home in Ballyvally Heights was found to have been kicked open.

This occurred sometime between Monday, 14 December and Wednesday, 16 December. Nothing was taken in this incident.

During follow up enquiries to the first burglary police observed tool marks around the door and windows of another home in the area and it is believed this was an attempted burglary.

Constable Peter Kealey said: “We would like to hear from anyone who witnessed any activity in Ballyvally Heights on Monday night, 14 December.

“We would also ask banks and money exchange businesses to be alert to anyone seeking to change dollars or euros in 50 and 100 notes.

“I would urge local residents to be vigilant.

“If you notice any activity or vehicles which look suspicious or out of place please phone us straight away.

“Please keep an eye out for vulnerable and elderly people in your neighbourhood who can be easy targets for criminals.
