Police appeal over sudden death

Detectives investigating the sudden death of a man in the Donegall Street area of Belfast are appealing for the public's help in tracing his last movements.

Detective Inspector Michelle Griffin said: “45 year old Wilfred Holmes, who was known as Wilfie was originally from the Ballymoney area and had been living in Belfast.

“I am keen to gather as much information as possible about Wilfred’s movements. We know he was in the Derry/Londonderry area early yesterday, Wednesday 21st September 2016, before travelling to Belfast. He was last seen in the Royal Avenue/High Street area of Belfast around 6.30pm and we would appeal to anyone who saw him between then and 11.30pm when his body was discovered. He is described as being approximately 5’9” tall, with blue eyes, dark short brown hair and of medium build.

“I would ask anyone who has information as to the movements of Wilfred between these hours to get in touch with Detectives at Reactive and Organised Crime at Musgrave on the non-emergency number 101 quoting reference number 1420 of the 21/09/16. The smallest detail just might help us establish where Wilfred was during this time, what he was doing and who he was with.”
