Police are probing 'slingshot' allegation

AN irate Larne resident has hit out at vandals who cracked two windows at her house on Sunday evening.

The woman, who did not wish to be named, believes the culprits were around the age of 13 and used a slingshot to fire stones at her house on Upper Waterloo Road.

“I returned home on Sunday evening to find that two of my windows had been damaged,” she said. “These attacks have been going on since Christmas and I think those responsible must have got the slingshot as a Christmas present.

“Quite a few houses in this area have been targeted and we are fed up with it.”

The woman was also annoyed that police took so long to respond to the incident. She said: “I phoned police at about 10.00pm on Sunday night to report the crime and they claimed that the earliest that they could send someone round would be 4.00pm on Monday. It is just not good enough.”

Police are investigating the incident and would like to hear from anyone who was in the area between 7pm and 9.30pm on Sunday.
