A PSNI spokesperson said the patrol vehicle was responding to a call, and it’s understood the blue lights were on at the time of the collision.

The incident has not been referred to the Police Ombudsman’s Office.

This is the second road traffic incident involving a police vehicle in recent weeks.

Police officers suffered minor injuries when the Land Rover they were travelling in hit a traffic signal on Sandyknowes roundabout on Friday, April 13.
