Police chief appeals for public support in fight against drugs

Police in Newtownabbey have launched a major crackdown on the cultivation and sale of cannabis.

Last month local PSNI officers raided two properties in the borough which were being used as ‘cannabis factories’. And Area Commander Derek McCamley is urging local people to report any properties they suspect could be being used for the cultivation or storage of illegal drugs.

“The possession and cultivation of cannabis is illegal. Drug production and drug dealing ruin communities and ruin lives. I think it’s important that local people know what to look out for so they can help us shut down even more factories,” Chief Inspector McCamley said.
