Police '˜concerned for safety' of drugs accused

A man accused of being concerned in the supply of drugs allegedly told police he was ordered to hold them for other people of whom he is fearful and in debt too.

During a bail application for Davis Wylie (37), of Glenshesk Drive, Ballymena, a police officer said there would be concerns for the safety of the accused if he was released.

The accused is currently on remand in prison accused of six charges.

They are possessing cocaine and cannabis; possessing cocaine and mephadrone with intent to supply; being concerned in the supply of cocaine and making an offer to supply mephadrone.

The offences were allegedly committed on June 23 this year.

The police officer said the PSNI found a “substantial” amount of drugs and said they would be opposed to bail if the accused was released back to the Ballymena area but said he would not object to an address outside the area.

The officer said he believed an “organised crime gang” is involved in the case.

District Judge Peter King refused bail.

The accused was remanded in continuing custody to appear back at Ballymena Magistrates Court on December 15.
