Police confronted by Magherafelt motorist on wrong side of the road

A motorist who was said by the prosecution to have caused a police car to take evasive action while overtaking a bus in Moneymore, was fined £165 at Magherafelt Magistrates Court.

Michael Pawel Kozlowski (26), of Leckagh Drive, Magherafelt, was also given six penalty points for careless driving on the Magherafelt Road on January 15.

A prosecuting lawyer said at 10.55am a police vehicle was confronted by a car being driven by the defendant which was overtaking a bus and was on the wrong side of the road.

A defence barrister said CCTV evidence of the incident showed that Kozlowski had got back onto his own side of the road and did not inconvenience the police vehicle.

Reducing the charge from dangerous to careless driving, District Judge Alan White described it as “a bad case of careless driving.”
