They deliver Community Policing in Dervock, Stranocum, Killyrammer, Cloughmills, Ballybogey and Loughguile.

Officers attend Cloughmills Community Action Team meetings, focusing on cross-community issues with meetings held in various locations around the village.

Recent concerns about criminal damage and anti-social behaviour in the village have been addressed and three people have entered into Acceptable Behaviour Contracts with PSNI. This appears to have had a positive impact and improved the quality of life for those who lived in the immediate area, PSNI Area Commander John Magill told Thursday’s meeting.

On 8 June officers held a Road Safety event at the Millennium Centre, Loughguile, supported by Ballymoney District Policing Partnership.

This was in response to local concern about road safety issues and in particular the attitudes of some young drivers. There was a pleasing turnout of local people for an extensive programme which included:

•Audio/Visual presentations on road safety collisions – what causes them and how to reduce the chances of being involved.

•Guidance on the modification of vehicles, window tints, suspension lowering and how to keep on the right side of the law!

•On display, specialist PSNI Road Policing vehicles and technology - Project Evolution, the PSNI’s latest weapon in road safety.

•Guest speaker Francis “Fred” Regan, top local rally navigator.

•Experience first hand the work of a Police FLO (Family Liaison Officer) with regard to road deaths.

A barbecue and road safety quiz with prizes added to the occasion and it is hoped that a similar event can be organised in Ballymoney Town during the autumn.
