Paul Boswell (25), Brookfield Meadows, Banbridge, admitted possession of a class B drug last Thursday at the local magistrates’ court.

The court heard that on January 5 this year at 1am police were called to an incident at a house in Banbridge.

Boswell had been at a party in his partner’s aunt’s house and had been asked to leave.

During a search police found a small quantity of herbal cannabis on a small table in the living room.

There were three children aged one, three and four in the house.

When interviewed at a later date Boswell admitted the cannabis was his and it was for his own personal use.

He said he had been actively seeking treatment from his Gp for drug and alcohol addiction.

A barrister representing the defendant said a complaint had first been levelled at his partner when the drugs were found in the property but Boswell admitted they belonged to him.

He added that his client was no stranger to the courts and the last two entries on his record were for identical offending.

District Judge, Mr Paul Copeland, adjourned the case until June 11 so that a specific sentence report could be prepared.
