Victor Torres (41), whose address was given as Thomas Street, Portadown, admitted possession of the class A drug on April 20 this
year.

The case had been adjourned from a previous court so that a short sentence
report could be
obtained.

The court heard that during a search of a house in
Thomas Street they asked Torres if he had any controlled drugs and he said only what was on the
table.

The powder found by the police was heroin with a street value of £50. Torres made a full admission.

A solicitor representing the defendant said the drug was for his own use.

He said that Torres was essentially dabbling with the drug at the time
and had booked himself
into a treatment
programme.

He had finished that and was now abstaining from drugs.
