Police granted extra time to question man

Police have been granted extra time to question a 66-year-old man arrested as part of an investigation into the deaths of three women in the town over the past 11 years, it is understood.

The man was arrested on Tuesday morning and taken to the Serious Crime Suite at Antrim police station for questioning.

It is believed that police were granted a further 36 hours at court on Wednesday to question the man, who is from Dromore.

Police confirmed on Tuesday that all three women all died in suspicious circumstances. Michelle Bickerstaff, 47, died in April last year; Margaret Weise, 50, died in August 2007 and 52-year-old Elizabeth McKee died in December 2002.

The suspect was also arrested for a number of other offences in relation to other women.

Police also confirmed on that a man in his 60s was arrested at the time of Ms Bickerstaff’s death last year. He was released unconditionally.
