The act, which took place at a home on Lisbeg Road, is being treated as an incident of anti-social behaviour by police.

Constable Seana Scullion said: "Sometime between the late evening of Saturday, October 29 and 8am on Sunday, October 30 a chain and lock were placed on a householders gate.

"They were forced to cut it off. Had there been any emergencies that would have required the householders to leave the area or for emergency services to attend, there may have been serious repercussions.

"We are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed this to contact Dungannon Police Station on the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference number 606 of 30/10/16.

"Or if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111."
