Police investigate Ballyclare break-in

Local Policing Team officers in Newtownabbey PSNI are appealing for witnesses following a number of incidents overnight in the Ballyclare area.

Detailing the incidents, a PSNI spokesperson said: “At approximately 20:30 hours on Tuesday, October 4 an attempt was made to break into a property at Castle Manor, Ballynure. It is believed that a small blue vehicle, possibly a Fiat, may have been involved.

“In addition to this, a home on Mill Road in Ballyclare was broken into sometime between 3pm on Tuesday, October 4 and Wednesday, October 5. It is believed that entry was gained to this property by breaking a window at the rear. Police also believe that the assailants exited the property via a window at the front of the property.”

Sergeant O’Neill from Newtownabbey PSNI said: “I would appeal for anyone with any information in regards to either incident to contact officers at Newtownabbey PSNI station by using the non-emergency number 101. Alternatively, information can be passed anonymously via the CrimeStoppers Charity on 0800 555 111.

“I would also like to take this opportunity to ask everyone to take a few moments to review their home security. As the early nights set in, criminals are afforded the extra protection of darkness as they move about in our areas. Visible burglar alarms and motion sensitive lighting act as great deterrents. They are a small investment but help contribute towards keeping you and your property safe. Please remain vigilant and report any suspicious behaviour that you observe in our communities.”
