Police investigate criminal damage to Royal Mail van

Police are appealing for information after extensive criminal damage was caused to a Royal Mail van in Coleraine this morning.

Detailing the incident in a post on the PSNI North Coast Facebook page, a police spokesperson said: “Coleraine police are appealing for information regarding criminal damage and attempted theft from a Royal Mail van that was parked in the Pates Lane area of the town.

“Two teen males wearing a blue hoody and a grey hoody are believed to have smashed the driver’s window and then attempted to force open the rear doors of the van.

“This was at approximately 10:30am. Fortunately they did not gain entry, but did cause extensive damage to the vehicle. If you have any information in relation to this incident, could you please contact police on 101, quoting reference number - 487 17/12/16 or Crimestoppers - 0800 555 111.”
