Police investigate drink spiking complaint

POLICE in Lisburn would like to hear from anyone who believes they can assist in the investigation of an alleged drink spiking incident.

This follows a report from a a 20 year old woman who said she had her drink spiked in a bar in the city on Saturday night July 14.

Enquiries are at a very early stage and officers would like to hear from anyone who can assist in the investigation. The number to call is 0845 600 8000.

Local police are offering the following advice to help people protect themselves on nights out -

* Be vigilant. Don’t leave drinks unattended and take sensible precautions to prevent it being spiked.

* If you see anyone placing or attempting to place something in another persons drink alert bar or security staff immediately.

* Don’t be an easy target - stay in groups at night, make sure your friends know where you are and who you are with at all times.

* Before you go out plan how you will get home.

* Anyone who finds themselves or a friend in distress on a night out should contact local police or other emergency service for advice.
