Police investigate spate of overnight burglaries

Police are appealing for information following five burglaries in the borough last night.

Detailing the incidents, a PSNI spokesperson said: “There were five burglaries overnight in the Antrim and Newtownabbey area. During three of these burglaries, the suspects were able to enter the properties through unlocked doors!

“I can’t stress this enough; before you go to bed at night or leave your house during the day, take 30 seconds to check that your doors and windows are securely locked. If you have a burglar alarm, it’s absolutely no use if it is not set.

“If you are away for prolonged periods of time, let us know by ringing 101. Ask a trustworthy neighbour to keep an eye on your property.

“One of the burglaries overnight was a commercial burglary at a building site on the Shore Road in Newtownabbey. “During this burglary three gas boilers were stolen. If you are offered a new gas boiler from a non-reputable source, please let us know on 101.”
