Police investigating sudden death of man in Coalisland this morning

Police are still at the scene of the sudden death of a man at Barrack Street in Coalisland.

It has been reported locally that a cigarette may have to been to blame, but firefighters said the fire was out by the time they arrived.

The incident is believed to have occurred in a flat above a hairdressers.

A spokesperson for the PSNI said enquiries are ongoing to determine the cause of death.

While a Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said: “Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service (NIFRS) received a call at midday to residential premises at the Barrack Street area of Coalisland this afternoon (Tuesday 26 April).

“Tragically one man was found deceased at the scene. No action was taken by Firefighters as the fire was already out. The incident has been passed through to the Police Service of Northern Ireland.”
